Project overview

This adaptive reuse project transforms a decommissioned textile mill into a creative industries hub accommodating studios, co-working spaces, a maker workshop, and a ground-floor food and beverage precinct. The existing masonry structure has been retained and celebrated throughout, with new insertions clearly expressed in contrasting contemporary materials to distinguish old from new.

Large skylights were cut through the original roof to flood the deep floorplates with natural light, dramatically improving working conditions in areas that were previously dark and underutilised storage zones.

The heritage facade along the principal street elevation has been meticulously restored and forms the centrepiece of the public realm improvements, including a new landscaped laneway that activates the previously inaccessible western boundary of the site.
