Project overview
Located at the gateway to a national park, this visitor interpretation centre is designed to orient and educate travellers while generating minimal ecological footprint on the sensitive landscape it serves. The building's form is derived from the geological formations of the surrounding terrain, with a folded roof profile that channels rainwater to a series of retention ponds along the entry path.
Internally, a continuous exhibition journey unfolds along a single looping promenade, guiding visitors through immersive displays that document the park's ecology, history, and conservation programs.
Structural timber sourced from certified sustainable plantations forms the primary building material, complemented by rammed earth feature walls and a planted sedum roof that blends the building into the ridgeline when viewed from the valley below.
